West Hollywood’s Popular Mamie Italian Kitchen Expanding to Culver City

Florentine-style panini shop Mamie Italian Kitchen is coming to downtown Culver City.

The popular eatery grew a cult following in their West Hollywood flagship store on account of their commitment to fresh and local high-quality ingredients. Mamie’s signature paninis feature artisanal cheeses and meats imported from Italy, and fresh produce sourced from local farms. The menu boasts a large selection of local favorites like Viale Di Guanciale, multiple vegetarian and vegan options beyond the classic caprese, and the option to create your own panini with the available ingredients.

Mamie even offers dessert paninis made with their storied house bread, with toppings like pistachio cream, Nutella, and fig jam with your choice of nuts and fresh strawberries.

But Mamie’s devoted cult following stems from more than just farm-fresh vegetables redolent in fine Italian cheeses: their famous slowly-fermented schiacciata bread keeps regulars coming back, and draws people out to WeHo for sandwiches rather than the clubs. The thin, bubbly dough fermented over 72 hours creates a classic Tuscan flatbread that’s denser and chewier than its more renowned cousin, focaccia. Schiacciata is flat and crispy on the outside, but slightly mealy on the inside, making it the ideal thickness for a panini stuffed with premium ingredients that finds the sweet spot of quantity versus quality.

Mamie fanatics eagerly await the opening of the Culver City store, which will be on the 9500 block of Culver Boulevard next to the Culver Theater on the southern tip of Town Plaza. The owners have not yet confirmed the opening date since the new location was announced on their Instagram in April 2026, but it is speculated to be early 2027.
