Koreatown recently lost Shake Shack, but the opposite corner of the same block just gained a new breakfast and lunch spot, Wiches on Wilshire, on 3800 Wilshire Boulevard.

The independent sandwich shop is part of The Shops at Mercury, a growing mixed-use development in Little Gangnam taking advantage of the City of Los Angeles’ Transit-Oriented Communities (TOC) program. The Shops at Mercury development is primarily used for medical offices but is growing its street-level shopping and dining options to capitalize on its juxtaposition to major arterial bus lines like the 720 and 207, Big Blue Bus R7 line to Santa Monica, and the Metro D purple line which is also growing, with two new stations on Western and La Brea and Western and Fairfax slated to open in mid-2025. Koreatown’s transit-rich layout and diverse culinary landscape makes it a prime neighborhood for eateries of all types.

Wiches on Wilshire offers classic sandwich shop fare like club sandwiches, wraps, and melts in addition to broccoli-cheddar soup and twists on typical cafe offerings like bulgogi breakfast burritos. They also have vegetarian-friendly options like meatless breakfast burritos, cheese melts, sun-dried tomato bagels, and black bean burgers. You can create your own salad or wrap as well, with basil pesto and salsa add-ons available. Bagels, croissants, hash browns, and breakfast burritos are also available all day! You won’t have Bagel FOMO like many other Koreatown coffee shops that stop serving them around 2PM. You probably can’t grab a cup of their banana pudding while you wait in line for a concert at The Wiltern since they close on the early side, but they’re there with fresh coffee and matcha lattes in the morning if you live in the neighborhood and are hungover the next day.

Wiches on Wilshire is open for breakfast and lunch daily from 8AM-6PM on weekdays and 9AM-4PM on weekends. While there is no outdoor seating at the time of writing, diners who prefer to eat outside can take their food to the Metro plaza across the street or nearby MaDang shopping plaza.
