Old Town Pasadena recently welcomed Chak-De Twisted Indian Bistro to the main drag, adding a dynamic new contender to the vibrant nightlife and dining scenes in downtown Pas. The large and welcoming space on Colorado Boulevard is strategically located near boutiques, coffee shops, transit, and other amenities of Old Town.
Chak-De, which comes from a Punjabi phrase of encouragement translating to “let’s go”, serves up classic Indian dishes, fusion with contemporary twists, and Indo-Chinese favorites all day. Vegetarians and omnivores alike will easily find something they love on the menu, with classic chaats, tandoor chicken and lamb, and Mumbai street foods like paneer, chicken, and lamb frankies, where flaky roti bread is layered with your filling of choice with egg and chutneys then rolled up like a burrito.
Speaking of burritos, you can also get the exclusive Chak-De Twisted Tacos, which are arranged just like your local taqueria fare with fresh onions and cilantro and chipotle sauce in lieu of chutney. Other fusion dishes include Twisted Pizzas made from naan and topped with tikka sauce, peppers, onions, and chutney, and gulab jamun in cheesecake form.
The sit-down bistro has a casual feel during the day, but a more upscale atmosphere at night when the lounge opens. Reservations are not required, but they are recommended for weekend nights. Adjacent to the restaurant, Chak-De Lounge comes to life at nighttime with a large selection of craft cocktails and mocktails with names inspired by Bollywood lore. The restaurant and lounge can be booked for private parties and corporate events, and you can usually find a DJ at nighttime bringing the club vibes.
