This former water tower was converted into a spectacular Malibu residence in the 1980s. Converted by architect Douge Rucker, this cylindrical space is one of the most unique properties on the LA market. The home includes four bedrooms, five bathrooms, and sits on a lot of 13,958 square feet. Priced at $4,950,000, 6375 Gayton Place, Malibu, is listed by Russell Grether, Jessica Jedvaj and Nikki Hutcheson of Compass.

With rounded windows and panoramic views, the shape of the home is entirely one-of-a-kind. The structure is two stories, with a curved façade and continuous wraparound balconies that create a smooth, flowing appearance. It is entirely secluded at the end of a cul-de-sac within Malibu’s Cavalleri enclave. Although the water tower conversion was completed in the early ‘80s, the home has recently been further upgraded with luxurious modern amenities.

The interior showcases a restrained, modern aesthetic with an emphasis on natural materials. White oak floors extend throughout the home, complemented by clean finishes. A spiral staircase introduces a sculptural element within the space. Large glass panels bring in consistent daylight and lead out to several wraparound decks.

The main level is organized as an open-concept living area. The layout connects the living room and kitchen without interruption, creating a continuous flow. The kitchen includes Miele appliances and is finished with Labradorite stone surfaces. It also features two ovens and a sizable island designed for seating and everyday use.

On the lower level, the primary suite is positioned to take advantage of ocean-facing views. The space includes a sitting area, a walk-in closet, and a bathroom designed with a spa-like feel. Two additional bedrooms on this floor each have their own bathrooms. A separate guest suite adds flexibility for visitors while maintaining privacy from the main quarters.

The rooftop deck offers a full panoramic vantage point of the coastline and surrounding landmarks. Views stretch across the Santa Monica Pier, Palos Verdes, Catalina Island, and Point Dume. The outdoor area also includes a lawn that encircles the home. Plans have already been approved for the future addition of a swimming pool.

Modern upgrades have been carefully integrated throughout the home while preserving its original character. A built-in Sonos audio system is installed across the interior, and motorized blackout shades add comfort and privacy. Practical features include a two-car garage, additional driveway parking, and a dedicated laundry area. Altogether, it presents a rare opportunity to own one of Malibu’s most recognizable architectural properties.
